Already Anointed in Christ
Many believers attend anointing services seeking more power, breakthrough, or spiritual renewal. Yet Scripture teaches that every believer in Christ is already anointed.
“You have an anointing from the Holy One.” — 1 John 2:20
The anointing is not oil, a service, or a special moment—it is the indwelling Holy Spirit given at salvation. This anointing does not expire, increase, or diminish. It abides.
“The anointing you received from Him remains in you.” — 1 John 2:27
In the Old Testament, oil symbolized God’s empowerment. In the New Testament, the symbol gives way to the reality. We do not seek a fresh anointing; we learn to walk in the anointing we already have.
Anointing with oil in the New Testament is limited mainly to prayer for the sick (James 5:14), not as a means of spiritual promotion or power.
The believer’s need today is not another anointing service, but obedience, faith, and a Spirit-led life.
Christ is enough.
His Spirit is sufficient.
The anointing abides.
